Library cards are free to residents and property owners in Memphis,
Bartlett and unincorporated Shelby County with proper identification.
Those who live outside the Memphis Public Library service area, including
counties in TN, AR and MS, may pay an annual fee of $50 to obtain
a Memphis Public Library & Information Center library card. Replacement
cards are $1.00. A visitor card requires a $10 refundable deposit
per item checked out, and is valid for one three-month period per
year.
A late fee of $ .10 per day, per book will be assessed for children's
materials not returned by the due date, with a maximum of $ 3.00 per
book. A late fee of $ .20 per day, per book will be assessed for adult
materials not returned by the due date, with a maximum of $ 5.00 per
book. A late fee of $ 1.00 per day will be assessed for each video/DVD
not returned by the due date. A maximum fee of $ 15.00 per library
account for video/DVD or any group of late items returned on the same
day. The cost of all lost materials must be paid.
Fees must be paid before additional items can
be checked out.
